Looking for info on underdrive pulleys...

Hi, I've put this thread in the BMC forum, had views but no replies

http://www.bmcforums.com/showthread.php?t=57885

I would just like to be sure that this ugly "rusty" part(pic) will not have to be put back on the car when the kit (pictured too) will be installed. Everybody sells the kit and tells all about the HP gains and blablabla... But nobody puts pics of the kit installed so I can be sure that thing is taken off for good...

Thanks!

Marco

I just saw this, and Mikey will get some info for you. Sorry for not seeing it on the BMC forums ... I don't often get around too much there other than in the Staff and BMCP sections, and stuff. We'll get this for you ...

Thanks Lisa, the main reason for doing this in the first place was to get rid of that rusty
"Crankshaft thing" or whatever it is called
I just wouldn't want to do this, or in my case, have it done... And still be keeping that part.

Marco

I've put a pic I found of the pulleys installed on the BMC thread at the top, the rusty crankshaft thing is gone but nowhere does it say the install is finished and that the Stang is running good... Hate not being a mechanic

I'm finally going to take out the damper, paint it with "glass shield" gloss black and attach the underdrive pulley to it, like the instructions say...
Sucks, I really wanted it chrome or billet aluminum but don't want to spend the extra $$$ that it would require...Especially for a part that only bugs me

I have been looking at all the pulley kits, and like Redbeard on BMC says, it really depends on the kit on what is replaced or installed.

Like this kit
http://www.bmcspeedshop.com/product_p/bbk-1559.htm
No hardware is included in it so the bolt would be reused, but includes these pullies: Crankshaft, Water Pump, and Alternator Pulley.

That's the kit "Mikey", you have to attach the new crankshaft pulley to the old one, that's why they call it "piggyback", I didn't know that when I bought the kit but once I sand and redo the old damper in black, everything is going to be fine, if not, next year,I'll just have to buy the S.F.I. approved kit which comes with a crankshaft pulley/damper all in one but is a bit more expensive...I've got the kit now so I'll justput it on and enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback, wish the BMC shop was up here in "La Belle Province"

Marco

Got everything installed, felt great...Except: My brand new 200A Chrome alternator wasn't charging so after a little ride with a little fun, battery died and I stalled on idle, had to put back my stock alternator until the new (I hope working) one arrives.
My damper looks great all sanded and paint with glass-shield.

Lisa I'm trying this link to see if it will work for the couple of pics I put on the BMC forum...

http://www.bmcforums.com/showthread.php?t=57885

http://www.bmcforums.com/attachment....7159381http://

When I get everything up and running I'll put pics of the finished product.
Looked and felt great until the Alternator...

Before-After Damper-Crankshaft pulley?

Can't wait to have everything done, the car feels great even with my "stock" alternator but the chrome one will look better...

Thanks "Mikey" and I enjoy it alot, now starting to look for future mods for 2010 since the nice season, here in Qu?bec, is slowly but surely ending...

Hood struts, Strut tower brace - Sway bars, fuel rails... ???
I'll probably need some new tires, so that digs a Monstrous hole in the wallet.
